It's difficult to pinpoint who the first world traveler was, as humans have been moving and exploring the world for thousands of years. However, one of the earliest recorded world travelers was the Chinese explorer Zhang Qian, who lived in the 2nd century BCE.
Zhang Qian was sent on a mission by the Han emperor to establish diplomatic and economic ties with the neighboring regions in Central Asia. He spent over a decade traveling through regions such as the Tarim Basin, the Ferghana Valley, and Bactria, which are now parts of modern-day China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan.
Zhang Qian's travels helped to establish the Silk Road, a network of trade routes connecting China with the Middle East and Europe, and his accounts of the regions he visited were recorded in the historical texts of the Han dynasty.
Zhang Qian's travels were not just important for establishing trade and diplomatic relations, but also for expanding China's geographical knowledge and cultural horizons. His journey took him through many diverse and fascinating regions, including deserts, mountains, and grasslands, where he encountered different peoples, languages, and customs.
During his travels, Zhang Qian faced many challenges and hardships, such as harsh weather, difficult terrain, and hostile tribes. But he persevered and was able to establish relationships with local leaders and merchants, who facilitated trade and exchange between China and the neighboring regions.

Note: Zhang Qian's travels also paved the way for future explorers and adventurers, such as Marco Polo, who followed in his footsteps along the Silk Road centuries later.
